Transgender 'Orange is the New Black' Star Laverne Cox Does Nude Photo Shoot

Prison has been good for Laverne Cox's figure...and apparently so has mac & cheese.

The 30-year-old "Orange is the New Black" star recently did a nude photo shoot for Allure, with the photos hitting the Internet today. The black and white photo turned out beautifully, but Cox almost didn't go through with it. In fact, she initially turned down Allure's offer.

However, she later reconsidered after thinking about the implication it could have for the transgender community. "I’m a black transgender woman," Cox said. "I felt this could be really powerful for the communities that I represent."

She continued: "Black women are not often told that we’re beautiful unless we align with certain standards. Trans women certainly are not told we’re beautiful. Seeing a black transgender woman embracing and loving everything about her body might be inspiring for some folks."

Cox revealed in her pre-shoot interview with Allure that she was nervous about the nude shoot for other reasons as well: "I had mac & cheese last night," she laughed.

We say Cox looks pretty fabulous, cheesy pasta and all.

Today was a big day for Cox in the magazine world, as Time also released their list of the Most Influential People today and included Cox on the list.

Meanwhile, Cox and the rest of the cast continues filming for "Orange is the New Black" season three, with a release date in mind for sometime this summer.
