Watch the Trailer for 'Conan O'Brien Can't Stop'

Watch the Trailer for 'Conan O'Brien Can't Stop' The cult of Conan continues onward. Even after the debacle between Conan, Jay Leno, and NBC has long ago been buried, even after Conan's subsequent live touring show, and even after his eventual return to the airwaves, people are still fascinated by a small period of time in late night television. You know, the last time you cared about it.

"Conan O'Brien Can't Stop," which follows O'Brien as he conceives and embarks on a 32-city tour to present a live version of his trademark late night show, received rave reviews when it premiered at SXSW. Critics lauded it for its remarkably candid portrait of so famous a personality, so much so that O'Brien himself was said to be a little shy when discussing the film. The press release touts the film for asking whether or not O'Brien's tour was a way of giving back to the fans, or a natural product of his inability to not work.

O'Brien was famously barred from appearing in any form of media for six months following his departure from NBC, so the live tour was seen as an inventive way to stay in the spotlight while also giving his staff a job until they could come back on the air. The resulting show itself was widely acclaimed.

I wasn't able to see the show when it came through my neck of the woods, but I do remain very fascinated with O'Brien. For those who caught his interview with Marc Maron on his WTF podcast, you know that the persona O'Brien presents is a mix of the real thing and a very careful construct, and his success alone reveals an almost startling work ethic in a profession that relies on seeming effortless.

The film will get a theatrical release through Abramorama at some point, but Magnolia is handling VOD and DVD, so it might end up being easier to just watch it from the comfort of your own home. No date has been announced for either.
