'Touch' Second-Season Cast Grows By Several Names
by Sean ComerIf FOX's "Touch" indeed looks to raise stakes in its second season this fall, it's apparently starting with adding to its cast - including facilitating a "24" reunion, Zap2It.com reports.
"Inception" and "Witness" alum Lukas Haas will join the cast as Calvin Norburg, a genius Aster Corps employee who runs across on-the-run Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) and his gifted, future-glimpsing autistic son, Jake.
While hiding out in Los Angeles, the pair also encounters Lucy Robbins ("The Cooler," "Coyote Ugly" and "Payback" co-star Maria Bello) and her similarly gifted daughter Amelia, played by newcomer Saxon Sharbino.
Still, as long as Sutherland's once more hanging his hat at FOX, what's a little fan service among a network and its fans? Greg Ellis also joins up as journalist Trevor Wilcox, who shares a friendly past with Martin.
That's a funny turn, since the observant will recognize Ellis as having played biological-weapons dealer Michael Amador in the third season of "24." "Twas quite the different story - literally - back then, as Amador was conning Sutherland's Jack Bauer into a misdirecting bidding war over a lethal virus.
"Touch" gets quite the season-premiere placement, too. Following a special pre-premiere bonus episode on Sept. 14 at 8 PM ET/PT, the second-season kick-off bows Oct. 26 at the same hour, acting as lead-in to the final-season premiere of "Fringe."
Spoiling no more than Zap2It's report, the bonus episode features Martin's car shooting craps in the town where he got his start as a reporter. From the sounds, think of it as a "Season 1.5" episode, or something like the prequels FOX would sometimes produce for "24" between seasons.
