Tom Selleck Under Investigation For Stealing Water

Tom Selleck Under Investigation For Stealing Water The tables have turned on "Magnum P.I." star Tom Selleck, who is currently accused of some less-than-lawful activity.

Selleck and his wife, Jillie, are being fingered in a lawsuit for stealing huge amounts of water from a fire hydrant in California... in the midst of strict water cutbacks due to the state's historic four-year drought.

The lawsuit claims that a white construction truck frequently stole water from a fire hydrant and delivered the booty to Selleck's 60-acre ranch and avocado farm. The thefts have been happening for about two years. A private investigator was hired by the water district to look into where the truck was sneaking the water, and discovered Selleck's ranch was the drop-off.

Selleck and his wife are reportedly barred from using the water from that location, as they are located in a different water district.

In 2013, Selleck was sent cease-and-desist letters regarding the water theft, but, while California residents are cutting their water use by 25% for the ongoing drought, Selleck continued pilfering.

The water district is seeking legal fees and investigative costs (including covering the cost of hiring the P.I. for over $20,000), as well as a preliminary and permanent injunction barring Selleck and his contractors or employees from taking water from the Calleguas district.

Selleck has no comment at this time.
