Tom Cruise Is Hollywood's Highest-Paid Actor of the Year

Just in case you were feeling a bit sorry for poor Tom Cruise, who was supposedly blindsided by Katie Holmes' divorce filing this week, here's something that will make you go right back to hating his guts: Tom Cruise is the highest-paid actor in Hollywood for the past year, and it's not even close.

Cruise made a whopping $75 million in 2011-2012, thanks to appearances in "Rock of Ages" and the massive "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol." That total means he made twice as much as the second and third place actors, Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler, who each made about $37 million. I guess "Jack and Jill" paid off after all.

If you're wondering about those "Twilight" actors, they rounded out the bottom of the top ten: Taylor Lautner tied with Robert Pattinson at #10 thanks to Lautner's extra starring role in "Abduction." Lautner and Pattinson each brought in $26.5 million.

Those two earned less than their "Breaking Dawn" co-star Kristen Stewart, who topped the list of highest-paid actresses. Stewart earned $34.5 million, beating Lautner and Pattinson by almost $10 mil, but her total is still less than half of what Cruise made. Indeed, the total for the top ten women is around $200 million, while the top ten men earned more life $360 million.
