TNT Dumps HawthoRNe

TNT Dumps HawthoRNe Looks like the old saying that all publicity is good publicity isn't proving true when it comes to TNT's recently dropped medical drama Hawthorne. TNT chose not to pick up the show for a fourth season, which starred Jada Pinkett Smith as a wise nurse in a doctor's world.

This might seem a suprising move now that the formerly-quiet cable show seems to be all over the news recently. Unfortunately, the show wasn't gaining attention for it's onscreen romances, but instead was collecting tabloid ink for the off-screen antics of its stars.

When singer-turned HawthoRNe actor Marc Anthony recently left his diva bombshell wife Jennifer Lopez, tabloids buzzed with rumors that it was because he and co-star Pinkett Smith were taking their characters' romance off-screen.

This has lead to rumors of a split between Pinkett Smith and her husband Will Smith, but sadly for the show the new notoriety didn't spare them the network axe.

“TNT truly appreciates the tremendous dedication of everyone involved,” said TNT's statement. “The series gave TNT the opportunity to work with many outstanding people, including Jada Pinkett Smith and the rest of the show’s talented cast, crew, producers and writers. We wish everyone involved with HawthoRNe nothing but the best.”

TNT won't be hurting without the third-year medical drama, as a good number of their shows have turned out to be bona fide hits.

Why cancel "Hawthorne" now? Was it just low ratings or did the network want to distance itself from tabloid rumors? Maybe someone just now noticed how stupid the spelling on the title of the show is? We may never know. But feel free to put your theory in the comments!
