'NY Ink': Tramp Stamps Take on The Big Apple with New TLC 'Miami Ink' Spinoff

TLC will be taking on the city that once outlawed tattoos with a new series spin-off on “Miami Ink.”

Despite the fact that tattoos were outlawed in New York from 1961 to 1997 due to tat-related outbreaks of hepatitis “C”, those behind “Miami Ink” are taking all risks to conquer the kingdom of body art in the Big Apple.

With the June premier of the all-new series “NY Ink,” viewers will get an inside look at tattoo culture in the city where America’s inking styles began. Ami James, the brash entrepreneur of "Miami Ink," will stake his claim in SoHo, and attempt to take on the industry once more.

The new shop, called The Wooster Street Social Club, will need a new crew, which means a whole new nest of interesting skin-artist dynamics.

New York has a long tradition of tattooing, which stems from 1846 when Civil War military servicemen were tattooed in the first permanent tattoo shop. However, props for indigenous tattoo traditions can also be given to customs seen within Native American circles.

Interestingly, SoHo seems to be the place to set up reality TV shop. Kim and Kourtney Kardashian dug their Louboutins into the turf for their reality show “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.”

We wonder if the socialites will stop in for an “I HEART Kris Jenner” skin stamp?

Sister Khloe Kardashian proudly rocks tattoos and speaks openly about her recent inking of her husband’s initials and another design that pays tribute to her late father. The cross an angel wings tattoo has “Daddy” written above it. While Khloe loves the design, she reported to Ryan Seacrest, she’s not very happy about its location.

"On my lower back, I don't like the location... I got a trendy location. It's called a "tramp stamp,”’ she said.
