'Titanic' 3D Valentine's Day Ticket Presales Crash Servers (Like an Iceberg)
by Andy NeuenschwanderIf you're looking for a romantic way to spend your Valentine's Day, Paramount and Fox have an idea for you: head to the theater with your sweetheart and see a preview screening of "Titanic" in 3D.
Even though the re-release of James Cameron's monster hit isn't due for a wide release until April 6th (which happens to mark the 100th anniversary of the day the actual Titanic set off on its fateful voyage), the studios have set up special preview screenings in theaters around the world on Valentine's Day, February 14th.
Here's the problem: there was such a mad rush for tickets that fans crashed multiple servers attempting to make their reservations. So naturally, the tickets sold out in a matter of hours.
So if you're looking to spend V-Day with Kate and Leo, you'll have to buy some scalped tickets. What do you think the over/under is on the price for one of those resale tickets? More or less than this year's Super Bowl? I mean, this is "Titanic" we're talking about.
"Titanic" is one of a number of movies getting the 3D upgrade, including some Disney and Pixar classics and the "Star Wars" trilogy... "The Phantom Menace" hits theaters in 3D soon.
