Tina Fey May Produce 'Hocus Pocus 2' UPDATED

UPDATE: As we feared, the rumor is false.  WhileTina Fey and those attached to this rumor are, however, developing a witch flick, it is not a follow-up for "Hocus Pocus."

If this rumor turns out to be founded in fact, it will be pretty amazing.

At this point it's only "sources" sneaking the word out, but the word itself is pretty great: Two years ago, a "Hocus Pocus" sequel was rumored to be in the works, though it fell through.

Now Tina Fey may be breathing new life into the idea.

Disney shot down the idea of a "Hocus Pocus" sequel, but Tina Fey's company, Little Stranger, might be picking it up to produce. She will join Allison Shearmur from Allison Shearmur Productions, and executives Bryan Oh and Stephen Meinen, who were previously attached to the concept.

Disney would become involved in the form of executives Jessica Virtue and Tendo Nagenda.

While no director is currently attached, everyone is certainly hoping that Kenny Ortega, who helmed the original flick, would be open to returning.

Unfortunately, though little is known about it at this time, it does not appear that the sequel would focus on the Sanderson sisters (played so beautifully by Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler, and Kathy Najimy in the 1993 pic).

Instead, it would take place years after the first film, and center around a housewife who is distantly related to the wicked trio. The housewife would have to team up with witch hunter to save her children, after resurrected witches on Halloween steal them away.

While no actors from the original are attached, wouldn't this be a great opportunity for cameos?

In better news, Tina Fey and Melissa McCarthy casting rumors do exist.
