Tim Burton Teases New Flick 'Big Eyes'

It has been around two years since Tim Burton had a flick in theaters (that being the adorable "Frankenweenie" remake in 2012), but don't worry, he's still working.

This week he released a first look at his newest picture, "Big Eyes," which seems a different sort of flick for the infamously dark and comedic filmmaker. Plus, where's Johnny Depp?

"Big Eyes," which stars Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz, is the biopic of artist Margaret Keane. Keane became famous in the1950's for her paintings of large-eyed characters - however, Keane was convinced that no one would buy her paintings if she revealed that she was a woman, so for years her husband Walter pretended to be the artist.

"Margaret really believed that as a woman, people would not buy her art," explains Adams. "[Walter] convinced her the life they were able to lead was because the artist was a man, who could sell more art at a higher price than a woman."

After the 10-year marriage fell apart, Keane tried to claim her work. Her ex, however, refused to acknowledge that she was the true artist. I won't ruin the whole story of how Keane won her fame and fortune back, but it's a doozy.

"This all seems so theatrical, like something you would design for a film. But that actually happened. Living the lie was something that weighed heavily on Margaret."

Adams spent time with Keane, who is now 87, to prepare for the role.

"Big Eyes" is due out Christmas Day, which means a trailer will be coming soon!
