This Woman's Sign-Language Interpretation of Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' Is Amazing
by Andy Neuenschwander
If you've ever recorded something for a potential job and put it on YouTube, you might think that having it go viral would be your worst nightmare.
For Shelby Mitchusson, though, it's turned out to be a pretty nice surprise.
Mitchusson, a Texas-based sign language interpreter, uploaded a video last year to YouTube of her interpreting Eminem's "Lose Yourself" in order to show her skills to Austin City Limits as part of her application to work for them.
Now, months later, the video has gone viral. It's been shared on a number of major sites and racked up over half a million views!
The reason for the video's success might be the attitude with which Mitchusson performs her translation of the song into ASL. She not only gets the lyrics across, but also conveys the tone and feel of the song as Marshall Mathers himself performs it.
Mitchusson has gotten a lot of requests from YouTube commenters asking for more videos now that they've discovered this one, to which she responded, "I have been very busy in my personal life but I am going to upload more videos soon." We're looking forward to it!
