This 'Punch-Out' Parody Sums Up the Mayweather/Pacquiao Fight Perfectly
by Andy Neuenschwander
If you tuned in to the big fight this weekend between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, chances are you were pretty disappointed. The fight went 12 rounds with very little in terms of excitement, as Mayweather kept the whole thing on lock with an impenetrable defense and just enough well-timed punches to score the points needed to win by unanimous decision.
That kind of technical boxing is why Mayweather is still undefeated, but it's possibly the most boring thing to watch and it's absolute poison to the sport of boxing as far as popularity goes.
That's why YouTube channel Noober Goober Gaming made this parody of the fight in the style of the NES classic "Punch-Out!!"
Originally, the game had you face off against Mike Tyson, who was the biggest name in boxing at the time. This parody re-imagines the game as if Mayweather sponsored it, complete with players having to agree to ridiculous terms in order to have the privilege of fighting the champ in the first place.
All in all, the parody is a pretty truthful and accurate representation of what we all watched on Saturday night, and it didn't even get to touch on the fact that Mayweather is a serial abuser of women who is entirely unapologetic about it.
