There's a New Harry Potter Short Story, Written by J.K. Rowling
by Andy NeuenschwanderTen points to J.K. Rowling!
The "Harry Potter" author has given her fans the gift they thought they'd never get: another story in the Harry Potter universe! Rowling has published a brand-new short story about her internationally famous character on the Pottermore website for fans to read.
The story is one of a series that Rowling has been writing about the Quidditch World Cup, in celebration of the actual World Cup happening in Brazil. Most of the stories have been unaffiliated with Harry, Ron and Hermione, but this latest one is different.
Written from the perspective of ethically questionable "Daily Prophet" gossip columnist Rita Skeeter, the story gives some details about the trio and their families, taking place at a time when Harry is about in his mid-30's. There isn't a ton of information to take away, but we'll take what we can get!
The story comes as a surprise to fans, as Rowling had said that she didn't plan to write any more stories concerning Harry, Ron and Hermione. This does open up the possibility for more short stories down the line, but in the meantime, Rowling is writing the screenplay for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," which will take place in the Harry Potter world, but 70 years before the events of the original book series. That movie is set for a late 2016 release.
