There's An Entire 'Mad Men' Spoof Musical and You Can Watch It Right Now
by Andy Neuenschwander"Mad Men" is one of the greatest dramas to have ever aired on cable television. The show's consistent number of nominations and wins during awards season, not to mention the loyal fan following, speaks to the quality of the writing, acting and every other facet of the production.
But just once, we wish the characters would sing a snappy song about keeping a pen between your tits.
Thankfully, there's "Mad Men: The Musical," a production put on by the Upright Citizen's Brigade theater in Los Angeles. The live show, written by Nadia Osman and Ben Siemon, takes the characters from "Mad Men"—and many of the plot points along the show's seven seasons—and puts them together into a comedic musical spoof.
The 40-minute show includes musical highlights such as "If You Don't Like What They're Saying, Change the Conversation" and "Always Keep a Pen Between Your Tits," the latter as sung by Joan, of course.
Meanwhile, on the real "Mad Men," the show is making another major time jump for the midseason finale of the seventh and final season. The second half of the seventh season will return in 2015, bringing fans the final episodes of the show that made AMC the cable powerhouse it is today.
