There Will be a 'Snow White and the Huntsman' Sequel ... Minus Snow White.

Can't say we didn't see this coming.

Two years of rumors and gossip followed the release of "Snow White and the Huntsman." The gritty fairy tale performed well at the box office, but when pictures surfaced of star Kristen Stewart (who was, at the time, dating her "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson) canoodling with married director Rupert Sanders, good will turned against her - and the concept of a sequel.

Depsite the new animosity, Stewart insisted she would happily be part of a follow-up, and talks of one in the works came and went more than once.

Well, now, the sequel is coming... but it's coming without Stewart. In fact, it won't have a female lead at all.

"The Huntsman" will feature as a spin-off of the "Snow White" flick, still starring "Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth.

Charlize Theron will even thankfully reprise her role as the evil queen (who will obviously have to be ressurected somehow), but no sign of Kristen Stewart - despite Universal's insistence at the time of her scandal that she would not be excluded from the franchise.

This news of her absence comes even though Rupert Sanders will not be in charge of the project, thus eliminating the worry that Stewart and Sanders' personal relationship may interfere with the film. Sanders recently finalized his divorce from wife Liberty Ross, who walked away with half.

Frank Darabont, executive producer of "The Walking Dead" until 2011, is in talks to step in for Sanders behind the camera.

Darabont directed "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile," but hasn't directed a feature film since 2007's lackluster "The Mist."

So, will you see a "Snow White" film lacking in Snow White?
