There Will Be a 'Frozen' Sequel and Stage Musical, Says Idina Menzel
by Andy NeuenschwanderColor us completely not surprised.
Idina Menzel, who famously voiced one of the two starring Disney princesses of 2013's "Frozen," has confirmed that there will be a "Frozen" sequel and a "Frozen" stage musical.
"They're all in the works," Menzel told the Guardian. Adding that she definitely plans on being involved in the movie sequel, but not the stage show.
"We'll see," she said. "I'm just going along for the ride."
The "Let It Go" singer has enjoyed a big boom in popularity due to the success of the movie and the song, which received radio play in a way that few Disney songs have in recent years.
With all kinds of product tie-ins, new "Frozen"-themed sections being built in Disney parks and a cross-over into ABC's "Once Upon a Time," it's hardly a surprise that a sequel would be in the works to follow up one of the studio's most successful recent animated features.
Additionally, Disney has enjoyed success with Broadway stage productions of their stories, such as "The Lion King" or "Aladdin." "Frozen" should fit right in along with them.
As for Menzel, she's also enjoying the success of her recently released Christmas album, which has her singing classics and modern Christmas songs alike.
