Westworld star Tessa Thompson strongly implied in an interview recently that she and actress Janelle Monae are in a relationship, confirming rumors that have been floating around for some time. On social media, though, she seemed to tell a different story. Which is the truth? Read on to find out.

It appears Tessa Thompson and Janelle Monáe might just be friends.
The “Creed 2” actress, 34, seemed to confirm rumors that she and Monáe, 32, were in a relationship in an interview with PorterEdit, but Thompson is walking back those comments.
“Sometimes we cheer so loudly at someone speaking their truth, that we miss what they say,” Thompson tweeted over the weekend. “…I didn’t say I was in a relationship. But I said lots of other things. All below. One thing I missed — Pride Has No End.”

In the interview, Thompson said that she and the “Hidden Figures” actress “love each other deeply” and that they “vibrate on the same frequency.”
“It’s tricky, because Janelle and I are just really private people and we’re both trying to navigate how you reconcile wanting to have that privacy and space, and also wanting to use your platform and influence,” said the “Westworld” star, who noted that her family has been accepting of her bisexuality.
“I’m attracted to men and also to women. If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don’t even have to have the discussion.”
