Terrence Howard Doesn't Like How His 'Empire' Character is Written

The writers of Empire have one vision of the character of Lucious, and Terrence Howard, who plays the character, has another. Howard has been vocal about his differences with the writers, and he hasn't been nice. Read on for details.

Terrence Howard thinks the writers of his series “Empire” have his character, Lucious Lyon, all wrong.

In the Fox hit, Lucious left his wife, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), to serve 17 years in jail for a crime they both committed — then tried to leave her out of the booming record label that they founded together.

But Howard told Page Six at the Season 5 premiere that Lucious’ misdeeds are just “bad writing.”

“I have done nothing dirty to Cookie, but you have to understand that it is from the writers’ perspective,” Howard told us. “That is just some bad writing.”

Noting “that was not from the Lucious that I play,” Howard said that “the Lucious that I play would have never left her in jail. The Lucious that I know did not leave her in jail for 17 years, because that is impossible for me to leave my friend and the love of my life in jail.”
