Taylor Swift Joining 'The Voice' Season 7: Will She Join Permanently?
by Andy NeuenschwanderTaylor Swift is taking her talents to NBC!
The "Shake It Off" singer is set to join the upcoming seventh season of "The Voice" as a guest mentor, assisting the panel of judges/mentors in coaching their selected talent in the earlier rounds. According to reports, Swift will likely act the same way Coldplay singer Chris Martin did in season six, coaching the talent in all four groups.
With two of the four seats on the "Voice" coaches' bench seeing a lot of change recently, Swift's signing on to the show is already starting rumors that she might stay on permanently as one of the four full-season mentors.
HollywoodLife is reporting that Swift is currently in talks to be a sort of substitute coach, taking over one of the seats in the event that one of the four regulars needs to take a season off (a likely occurrence considering the frequency of seasons).
However, it's worth noting that any time there's a vacant seat on a reality talent show's judge panel, it seems that every celebrity in the world is "in talks" to join. Swift is also mega star at the moment with a #1 Billboard single and a new album coming out soon, so it's likely that she'll be too busy and/or successful for a reality show.
In the upcoming season, regulars Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will be joined by new judges Pharrell and Gwen Stefani. So if either Pharrell or Stefani decides not to stick around, NBC will probably continue to pursue Swift as an option until they get a definite "no."
