Taylor Swift Drops Catchy New Music Video 'Shake It Off,' Addresses Haters

Taylor Swift has a message for the all the Taylor Swift haters out there: She hears you, but she doesn't much care.

The singer dropped a brand-new single today, accompanied by an energetic music video, and it's catchy as all hell, as is par for the course for Swift.

The song, titled "Shake It Off," starts with Swift listing off some of the rumors people spread about her, including those about her love life. That leads into a recurring hook saying that "haters gonna hate" and that all those with the same problem should "shake it off."

The lyrics aren't exactly the most original or inspired, especially coming from a singer who, in some of her deeper cuts, is actually lyrically gifted. No, this is "fun" Taylor Swift, and they're the "fun" kinds of lyrics that are easy to sing along to and/or get stuck in your head. And in a post "Let It Go" world, the lyrics should ring true for many, although the "Frozen" track may have stolen some of their thunder.

The music video only supports that idea, and we'll be damned if it doesn't actually make Swift look like a fun person who has a pretty good sense of humor. There are hints of the classic Taylor Swift trying-too-hard-ness, but there are flashes of honesty and genuine enjoyment here.

Also included are some tributes to the likes of Lady Gaga and "Black Swan," among others.
