'Tangled' Will Now Be a TV Series Thanks to Disney Channel

Are you ready for the continued adventures of Rapunzel and Eugene—er, Flynn Rider?
The Disney Channel has given a series order to a new TV adaptation of the "Tangled" movie, which came out in theaters in 2010. The story featured a re-telling of the classic Rapunzel tale, with Mandy Moore playing the long-locked princess and "Chuck" star Zachary Levi voicing the roguish Flynn Rider, who escorts her from her tower to her place of birth.
For those concerned about a new voice cast making your favorite characters sound just a little bit off, don't worry: Moore and Levi will reportedly reprise their roles for the show!
The show will reportedly take place after the events of "Tangled" but before the events of the 2012 Disney short "Tangled Ever After," which showed the wedding between Eugene and Rapunzel. So instead of being about married life, the series will follow Rapunzel as she gets to know her newly reunited family and her kingdom.
"[Rapunzel's] irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity about the world drives her to the realization that there is so much more she needs to learn before she can truly accept her royal destiny," read Disney's official statement, concerning the show's plot. "She boldly puts her crown and impending marriage on hold to seek out epic adventures, much to the dismay of the King who, after missing out on Rapunzel’s youth, must accept that his daughter is now an independent young woman."
We're betting that Eugene has some shaping up to do before he officially becomes a prince, too.
The "Tangled" TV series will premiere sometime in 2017.
