'Taken 3' Trailer Gives the Series a Slight Twist
by Andy NeuenschwanderWhen 20th Century Fox announced that they would be pursuing a third "Taken" movie, we all wondered just how the hell Liam Neeson's character Bryan Mills would allow his daughter or wife to be kidnapped a third time.
The first trailer for "Taken 3" is out today, and we learned Fox had a plan all along to revitalize the franchise.
In the trailer, we quickly learn that Mills isn't out for revenge against kidnappers this time around. Rather, he's framed for the murder of his wife and sets out to clear his name and punish those responsible.
In short, we're basically getting "The Fugitive" but with a lot more ass-kicking.
It's a welcome change to the franchise, which was already getting some mockery for the plot of "Taken 2," which was essentially the same plot as the first film. The Innocent Man Falsely Accused deal is one we've seen before, though, and it's not like "Taken" is known for reinventing the wheel.
Then again, innovation is not why we love "Taken" anyway. We love it because we want to see Liam Neeson growl threats at people and crack skulls.
