'Rocky: The Musical'? Stallone, Klitchsckos Producing Stage Version of Boxing Movie

There are some underdogs you just never, ever count out. They've proven you wrong too many times, and you just can't bet against them any longer.

Sylvester Stallone - particularly, his enduring "Rocky" legacy - probably tops that list.

So when Stallone confirms he's working toward producing "Rocky: The Musical," why even bother telling him it won't work? Rumor has it, Stallone plans on first staging the production in Germany before bringing it stateside.

"I always had the idea of 'Rocky' as a musical," Stallone told FitPerez. "At the end of the day, 'Rocky' is a love story and he could have never reached the final bell without Adrian. To see this story coming to life on a musical stage makes me proud."

Stallone made the announcement Nov. 21 that the show will hopefully premiere in Hamburg, Germany by November 2012, reports the U.K. Daily Mail. He made the announcement appropriately flanked by towering heavyweight fighters Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko - the show's producers, as well as the pair that will be training the pugilistic musical's eventual leads alongside Stallone himself.

Tony Award-winning songwriting Lynn Ahrens will be writing the lyrics and composer Stephen Flaherty composing the score. The music will reportedly include renditions of the Bill Conti theme "Gonna Fly Now" and Survivor's "Eye Of The Tiger," which made its debut in "Rocky III."
