Survey Says...More Anne Hathaway, Less James Franco at the Oscars

Survey Says...More Anne Hathaway, Less James Franco at the Oscars There has been a lot of talk since the Oscars about James Franco's performance as host, but all of it has been subjective opinion. If we're going to get to the heart of the matter, we need a highly scientific study.

Well, thanks to Q & A Research, a firm based in San Francisco, we have just that. Q & A conducted a national survey and found that 36 percent of respondents gave Anne Hathaway a "very good" or "excellent" rating, while just 19 percent gave the same ratings to James Franco.

Additionally, 51 percent of those surveyed want Anne Hathaway to return, while only 26 percent want Franco to return. It's science! It's foolproof!

Well, there is the fact that only 241 viewers were surveyed. That's a pretty small sample size. But still, considering the general feedback after the Oscars, the numbers seem about right...which begs the question, why bother with the survey in the first place?

Franco told David Letterman last week, "I honestly played those lines as well as I could." On the subject of Hathaway, he added, "Anne is so energetic, I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway."

One last bit of information from the survey: one-third, or 34 percent, of viewers surveyed thought that this year's ceremony was worse than previous broadcasts. If the Academy actually pays attention to surveys like this, those two young'uns won't be back next year.
