'Supernatural' - Misha Collins Promoted to Series Regular
by Zack WellsCastiel fans, rest easy. Misha Collins, who plays the beloved angel, has been promoted (once again) to series regular for the upcoming season 9. It has also been announced that Misha Collins has been asked to direct an episode, much like series star Jensen Ackles has been doing for the past 2 seasons.
Misha Collins’ character, Castiel, has had fans on the edge of their seats, constantly wondering if the angel will appear again or not, as fan love and fan backlash seem to create a hostile environment for the producers. But those who support Castiel can take a deep breath of relief with the announcement of his promotion. It guarantees that Misha Collins and Castiel will appears in a bulk of the episodes, however it’s not known to what capacity he will appear.
Castiel was first introduced in season 4, and Misha Collins was promoted to series regular in seasons 5 and 6, but was “demoted” in seasons 7 and 8. This had Castiel fans ready to strike back, fearing the worst for their beloved angel. But he’s hung on, and it looks like the various fan campaigns to save his character have paid off.
The CW has given “Supernatural” an early renewal a few weeks ago, announcing a season 9 to much rejoicing. Season 8 has had a massive increase of rating in comparison to the dismal seasons 6 and 7.
Be sure to watch more of Castiel and the rest of the “Supernatural” gang on Wednesdays at 9 PM EST on the CW.
