Is Supergirl Renewed for Next Season?

Last week, CBS announced the renewal of 11 of its series for next season, but Supergirl was not among them. That could be bad news for the superhero series, given that it's struggled in the ratings in its freshman season, but fans shouldn't give up hope just yet. There's still a chance that the series could come back next season.

The biggest reason to hold out hope is that none of CBS' new series were on last week's renewal list, and we know that all of them aren't facing cancellation. In fact, it's possible that none of them are. Earlier this month, CBS head Les Moonves said that he expected that the network will renew five new series, and although he didn't specify precisely which series he meant, the presumption is that Supergirl is one of them.

Supergirl is also behaving as if she's going to be around for a while. This week's episode featured a cross-over appearance by The Flash from his own CW series, as well as the news that producers plan to bring former Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter on board in the role of President of the United States. With plans for the future firmly in place, the series is looking like it knows something we don't know.
