'Supergirl' Makes CW Debut
by EG
Season two of Supergirl gets underway this week, and the series has a new home this time around. After struggling to pull in big-time ratings during its inaugural season on CBS, the series got a second chance when CBS opted to shift Supergirl to its sibling network The CW instead of cancelling the series outright. Supergirl's new lease on life begins on Monday night.
The second season of Supergirl promises some new developments in National City, the biggest of which is scheduled to happen on the season's very first episode. That's when Kara's cousin Clark visits National City from his home in Metropolis. Clark is, of course, the famously mild-mannered Clark Kent, the alter ego of Superman, and this premiere episode marks the first time that Superman will appear in the flesh on Supergirl.
Another big new event this season will be the introduction of TV's former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter in the role of the President of the United States.
We can also look forward to more crossovers between Supergirl and the other DC series on The CW. Supergirl and The Flash already swapped characters last season, and this season there are plans for crossovers between those two series as well as Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. And, for better or worse, two of those crossovers will be musical episodes.
Supergirl premieres Monday, October 10.
