A Super Musical Starring Gwyneth, Beyonce and Reese Witherspoon, from the Creator of 'Glee'?
by Andy NeuenschwanderSo apparently "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy went out to dinner with Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz, pitched the idea of a movie musical to them, and now it's actually a thing that's going to happen. Believe it.
Sony has reportedly bought "One Hit Wonders," a movie musical from Murphy starring the three aforementioned blondes. Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz will play three pop stars from the 90's who were--you guessed it--one hit wonders, and attempt to reclaim their former glory by forming a supergroup girl band. It's like Destiny's Child in reverse.
Beyonce will also be in the movie (at least that's the word so far), and The Lonely Island, hitmakers of "I Just Had Sex," "Jizzed in My Pants" and "Dick in a Box" to name a few, will be writing the music. That last bit officially sold it for me, as I cannot wait to hear Reese or Gwyneth singing a song with Lonely Island lyrics. Where can I buy tickets?
Things are still in the early stages, but Murphy hopes to shoot the film sometime next year. Between his duties at "Glee," "American Horror Story" and his other film "The Normal Heart," that may or may not happen.
But let's hope it does. This whole thing is so crazy, it just might work.
