Summer TV Series Feature: MTV's 'Teen Wolf' (Watch the Trailer)

Summer TV Series Feature: MTV's 'Teen Wolf' (Watch the Trailer) In the 80's "Teen Wolf" was a cult-classic. Now, MTV is bringing the high school werewolf back but this time to the small screen.

"Teen Wolf" will premiere as a TV series on June 5, right after the MTV Movie Awards. Great timing, MTV, simply great.

The original film, starring Michael J. Fox, was more fun and fantasy than serious, but the new take is a darker depiction of a boy turned werewolf. Starring Tyler Posey, the program will be a "sexy thriller set against the drama of high school life with a forbidden, romantic love story at its core."

The series follows a typical high school outsider, Scott McCall, who goes into the woods one night to help the police look for a dead body.

While in the woods, Scott is attacked by a creature of the night and barely gets away. When he wakes up in the morning he finds that his body has begun transforming into something hideous (and hairy).

In the official description from MTV:

"'Teen Wolf' is the story of Scott as he tries to walk the line between what he wants and what he can't help from wanting. Will the bite end up being a gift? Or will it be a curse? And what will it all mean for his relationship with Allison - the girl he can't get enough of? Only time will tell if he should embrace his newfound powers, or if he should fear them."

Other cast members include Dylan O'Brien as Stiles, best friend of Scott, Crystal Reed as Allison, the new girl in town and Tyler Hoechlin and the older werewolf Derek Hale.

At a time when vampires and the supernatural are all the rage, MTV has positioned itself pretty well.
