'Suicide Squad' Rolls Out Red Carpet for NY Premiere

The national premiere of Suicide Squad this weekend is expected to be one of the biggest movie openings of the year, but the party started a little bit early with Monday night's New York premiere. The movie's stars, along with its director and a slew of other celebrities, were on hand to display a little flashy style ahead of their film's big debut.
The event at New York's Beacon Theatre was a typical film premiere in many ways, but it did incorporate a little Suicide-Squad craziness now and then. Director David Ayer described the event as an "insane cocktail party," and he got a bit out of hand during his address to the crowd, in which he shouted out "F**k Marvel!"
Ayer later tweeted an apology for his inappropriateness, emphasizing his respect for his "brother filmmakers" at Marvel Studios.
Star Will Smith was a little more careful of the impact of his comments, pointing out the cultural significance of the diversity of the film's cast.
"What I love about working with this group, it's a rainbow - it's all races, creeds and colors. It's the diversity and inclusion that this country is supposed to be about," Smith said to the assembled fans and reporters.
