Steven Tyler's Fall Supposedly Caused By Food Poisoning

Steven Tyler's Fall Supposedly Caused By Food Poisoning The latest word from TMZ is that Steven Tyler's hotel shower collapse that caused "minor" injuries was caused by a nasty stomach ailment.

The gossip hub reports that Tyler was showering in his hotel room in Paraguay when dehydration resulting from a nasty bout with food poisoning caused him to collapse.

All things considered, he's lucky his injuries weren't worse: his face was cut-up and bruised, and several knocked-out teeth were the worst of his injuries.

A Tyler rep told TMZ that the Aerosmith lead singer's injuries were minor enough that he had already been released from the hospital by the evening of Oct. 25 but that the band had still cancelled their Oct. 26 planned concert.

Ever the trooper, Tyler sent a statement apologizing for the cancelation and promised the band would make up its date once Tyler had healed.

It's been a rough couple years health-wise for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and current "American Idol" judge. It was just in August 2009 that Tyler, now 63, fell from the stage during an Aerosmith concert in Sturgis, SD and had to be airlifted to a local hospital with neck and head injuries that cancelled the band's remaining summer tour dates.

Prior to that, Tyler was already dogged by rumored poor health including a torn quadricep muscle during a June 29 show that same year in Harrisburg, PA. By December that year, he had checked into a rehab facility for "pain-management" issues.

Season 12 of "American Idol," which will once more feature Tyler's judging, debuts January 2012.
