Steven Tyler Won't Let Personal Life Affect American Idol Judging

American Idol Judges With Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Kara Dioguardi now having left the judging panel of American Idol, the two newcomers to the judging panel, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, are busy trying to impress audiences. Steven Tyler, the front man with rock band Aerosmith, has recently spoken out about his plans as an American Idol judge,

Tyler told reporters from Digital Spy that he was not going to let his personal life affect the way in which he judged the acts that were auditioning in front of him and the other judges. In an interview, he said that he tried to focus on the individual potential of each of the acts that performed, and did not allow his opinion or judging to be affected by what was going on in his own life.

He said: "I don't take what happened to me this morning or last night or with the band or with extras. I don't take that into judging kids [like] other people might have. I kind of take what I've grown up with, which is being a very harsh judge of myself, of my vocals, of my band, and lay that across the talent that comes across my view."

Tyler also said that whilst he had only just joined the judging panel of the show, he was planning to stay on beyond this latest season of American Idol.

He said: "I have more than a one-year contract. But as you know, things are what they are. But I have more than a one-year contract. I'll give you that one."
