Steve Martin's Adorable Endorsement

Oh, Steve Martin. Give the guy a hand for being completely likeable no matter what he’s doing.

In this low-budget video clip, the "It's Complicated" funnyman sets down to show his audience a little do-it-yourself project he enjoys: creating the perfect wad of paper, with only a large handful of thumb tacks, a stapler, gum, a hammer, some brass brads… you know, the usual.

The purpose of the video is more than to entertain us with the ridiculously intricate creation of the perfect wad of paper, as you soon see. Hand-held signs sneak in from the side while Martin does his work.

Martin uses the video to endorse his personal friend Bob Kerrey, a senator and governor of Nebraska who is running for senate. Kerrey officiated Martin’s wedding in 2007.

Are you swayed? Do you not live anywhere near Nebraska and therefore don’t care whatsoever? Well hey, then. If nothing else, you learned how to make a truly snazzy wad of paper. All was not wasted.

Don’t care about paper wadding, but totally down for Democratic senate nominees?

You’re just all cold inside, aren’t you? But here’s the official endorsement, minus the funny:

“My friend, Bob Kerrey, is running for the US Senate in Nebraska. He is a principled man whom I have known and respected for many years. Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, he deserves your vote, because … he cares about the people of Nebraska … he considers both sides of every issue to determine what is best … and, he has already served Nebraska successfully as your governor and senator for 16 years. But most of all … He is sane. And his ideas are workable. Please consider Bob Kerrey as a wise and thoughtful choice as your senator from Nebraska. Also, please consider me as your home crafts authority.”
