'Star Trek,' 'Harold & Kumar' Alum Also Joining 'Total Recall' Cast

Oh boy, oh boy. I do hope John Cho likes the screenplay I'm writing especially for him. I call it "Mr. Sulu Goes To White Castle, Then Becomes A Futuristic Construction Worker Spy . . . Or Not".

It's, um . . . it's a working title. Don't judge me.

The actor who played Mr. Sulu in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" re-launch and co-starred in "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" will next join the troupe rehashing Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1990 hit "Total Recall," says Entertainment Weekly. Cho portrays McClane, a silver-tongued devil that represents the memory-shufflers that remodel the memory of construction worker Douglas Quaid (played in 1990 by Schwarzenegger, now by Colin Farrell.) This version scraps the original film's Martian setting and focuses on Quaid being cast into a conflict between dueling nation states as either a spy or a freedom fighter - he really can't tell which.

As reported right here on Yidio Thursday, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Alba have also joined the cast to play Quaid's respective wife and girlfriend, Bill Nighy will play a resistance leader, and Bryan Cranston will play a villainous executive. Ethan Hawke is also set for an unspecified cameo.

Filming is tentatively set to start this Monday in Toronto. "Total Recall" is set to hit theaters in 2012.
