Thomas Ravenel’s former nanny is suing the “Southern Charm” star, NBCUniversal, Bravo, Haymaker and Comcast over her alleged sexual assault at the hands of the reality television star.
Dawn Ledwell filed the civil suit for assault and battery, outrage/intention infliction of emotional distress, civil conspiracy, defamation and negligence on Dec. 7, per court documents from Charleston County, South Carolina, obtained by Page Six. Ravenel, 56, is awaiting trial on assault and battery charges.
Ledwell claimed in her suit that Haymaker, the production company behind “Southern Charm,” is responsible for what happened to her, as she reported her alleged sexual assaulted to Chaz Morgan, a Haymaker employee, in December 2015. She believed Morgan would tell Haymaker executives about her claims, but the company’s co-founder and the show’s executive producer, Aaron Rothman, failed to investigate the incident any further. She alleged that her claims weren’t investigated until May 4, 2018.
She also said she has not heard from the company since, despite their public statement that they are investigating her claims.
Ledwell publicly came forward with claims that Ravenel sexually assaulted her earlier this year and filed a police report with the Charleston Police Department on May 7. She told Page Six that she was working late one night when Ravenel “approached [her] without any hesitation and attempted to kiss [her].”
“It escalated from there where he wouldn’t take no for an answer,” she said at the time. “Although it wasn’t penile penetration, what he did do was identified by the law as first-degree forcible rape.”
