'Source Code' Coming to CBS as a TV Show

Much like its protagonist, "Source Code" is about to get a second chance at life...this time, as a TV show.

The Mark Gordon Company, which produced the sci-fi thriller, is working on an adaptation of the film for television, according to THR. Interestingly, Gordon sold the show to CBS, even though his company is locked in a deal at ABC. I guess they had their hands full with the 52nd season of "Grey's Anatomy."

From the sound of things, the show will take on a "Quantum Leap" sort of vibe and become a procedural that follows three special agents as they use the source code to re-live the final moments of people who died in significant events.

The plot of the movie was to use the experience to track down a bomber before he struck again, so it's a good bet that if the show gets picked up, that's what season one will be about.

Without revealing any spoilers, it will be interesting to see if the show takes on all the details from the movie...there was a twist that made things a little more complicated, and it might not translate to TV.

Currently, Steve Maeda (who wrote for "Lie To Me" and "Lost") is attached to write the script, so it seems that they have the right man for the job. This will definitely be a pilot to keep an eye on.
