UPDATE: Sorry, Guys... The 'Friends' Comeback Season is Probably Not Happening... Not so fast, guys…

As much as we all want to get excited (like screamingly, obnoxiously excited!) about the announcement that “Friends” will be getting a comeback season… this may be little more than an Internet hoax or classic misinformation.

Star Media made the initial report.

“The rumor of a new season for Friends has been surrounding the web for months, but this time is more than a rumor!” Star Media reports, without citing any sources. “NBC network has confirmed they will launch a new season of Friends on 2014, it will be about their story in a comeback reunion!”

They added, “It’s still unknown if the original actors will accept NBC’s deal, but the dream of a ‘Friends’ reunion is closer than ever!”

While everyone was so happy daydreaming about an 11th season where our favorite group of pals will reveal how they’ve been all these years… nothing has actually been confirmed. While the website states NBC has confirmed the rumors, no one can seem to find that key information.

The show, which was on the air for ten years and ended in May of 2004, featured Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, and David Schwimmer.

The Daily Caller points out that Cox, Perry, and LeBlanc all star in their own television series at the moment, while Jennifer Aniston is frequenting the big screen these days. The group made $1 million per episode during their final season, and with NBC’s not-so-great bank account at the moment, it’s unlikely that any draw for a reunion would be financial.

It should also be noted that a “Friends” reunion has reportedly been confirmed… yet none of the original actors have apparently signed on to return.

Maybe David Schwimmer is lobbying for another go?

Don’t despair quite yet… NBC has not outright denied the report. We will keep you updated.

UPDATE 4/17:

Sorry, everyone. Time to put away the "Friends" mug you've been saving for a reunion. Co-creator of the show, Marta Kauffman, and NBC have both confirmed there will be no return season for our beloved show.

"I'm going to clear this up--it's not happening," Kauffman said.

I'm as sad as you are, but we must console ourselves with the constant, daily reruns available on at least five or six basic cable channels, and keep the dream of a reunion alive!
