Sony Allows Limited Release of 'The Interview' Christmas Day

Looks like Alamo Drafthouse's Christmas wish is about to come true.
Sony has reversed its decision not to release "The Interview" and will instead allow a limited release on Christmas Day.
When we say "limited release" we mean very limited. As of yet, it seems that only one theater chain will be allowed to screen "The Interview," and that's Alamo Drafthouse.
The Texas-based theater chain has been a major player in the kerfuffle surrouding the release (and cancellation of said release) of "The Interview" thus far. When Sony broke the news that it would be cancelling the release of the movie, Alamo Drafthouse tweeted that it would instead be showing "Team America: World Police" at its theaters.
When Paramount restricted theaters from showing "Team America," Alamo Drafthouse reported that it would have to cancel said screenings and refund customers due to circumstances "beyond our control."
The concern from both Sony and Paramount comes from a vague but disconcerting threat issued by the hacker group that leaked all of Sony's documents, telling theater owners and moviegoers to "remember the 9/11" and to stay away from theaters when "The Interview" was released.
Alamo Drafthouse CEO Tim League made the announcement that they would ignore those threats and screen the movie anyway, with Sony's permission, in a tweet today. "Breaking news: Sony has authorized screenings of THE INTERVIEW on Christmas Day," he wrote. "We are making shows available within the hour. #Victory."
It is unclear as of yet whether these screenings will be available at every Alamo Drafthouse, which has locations across the U.S., or just in one of the company's flagship theaters in Texas.
In any case, if you feel like having a beer (Alamo Drafthouse theaters serve food) and watching Kim Jong Un's head explode on Christmas Day, it looks like Alamo Drafthouse has you covered.
