'Sons of Anarchy''s Sutter Stirs Anger with Tweet
by EG
Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy and the upcoming SoA spin-off series, took some heat from conservative followers when he tweeted criticism of professional right-wing agitator Milo Yiannopoulos this week.
Sutter's comments were intended to denounce the violence stirred up by Yiannopoulos at UC Berkeley this week, and they predictably ellicited strong responses from Yiannopoulos' supporters.
Anarchist protestors of a planned speech at Berkeley by Yiannopoulos, whose inflammatory rhetoric usually involves racist claims and rants, attacked police and set fires. The unversity subsequently cancelled Yiannopoulos' appearance, citing safety and security concerns.
Sutter's tweet in response to the event said that "Violence always blows back, but words of hate set more fires," and he also called Yiannopoulos a "petty c*** who uses a bombastic POV for vain glory."
Sutter's opinion was out of line with those on the right, including President Donald Trump, who accused the unversity of stifling freedom of speech by cancelling Yiannopoulos' speech. One Twitter user went so far as to remind Sutter that the fan base for SoA is probably not made up of those who would criticize Yiannopoulos.
@sutterink please stick to writing scripts and spare us the political bullshit. Btw how many liberals you think make up fan base of SOA?
