Are you willing to stay up all night to see Avengers: Endgame on its opening weekend? Dozens of AMC theaters are planning to stay open around the clock and show the movie to accommodate you. Meanwhile, the movie has pulled in more advance ticket sales than any other movie in history. Read on for details.
The Russo brothers' Avengers: Endgame continues to set records before it even hits theaters later this week.
AMC Theatres on Monday announced that the superhero pic has racked up more advance ticket sales than any title in history. The mega-circuit is also adding a record number of round-the-clock showings in order to accommodate demand.
From Disney and Marvel Studios, Avengers: Endgame should have no trouble scoring the biggest opening of all time at the global box office with $850 million to $900 million (some think it could even be more). In North America, it's likewise expected to unseat Avengers: Infinity War and post a record debut of $270 million-plus, with some betting on $300 million.
Endgame begins rolling out Wednesday in select territories, including China. It will touch down in the U.S. on Thursday night.
So far, 29 AMC locations will be open around the clock Thursday through Friday, while an additional 18 theaters are scheduled to be open around the clock Thursday through Saturday, or Friday through Sunday. Finally, another 17 AMC sites are scheduled to be open around the clock Thursday night through Sunday.
“With a desire to satisfy as many Marvel fans as possible on Thursday and through the weekend, AMC’s programming team is reviewing ticket sales theater by theater and adding showtimes later and later. In fact, there are multiple AMC locations that will be operating around the clock from Thursday night through Sunday," Elizabeth Frank, AMC executive vp worldwide programming, said Monday in a statement.
