Solaris star George Clooney and Sandra Bullock head to space in 'Gravity'

Sandra Bullock and George ClooneyActress Sandra Bullock is set to star in a movie set in space, and she will be paired with Hollywood actor and Solaris star George Clooney – after the original actor, Robert Downey Jr, bailed on the project.

Clooney may have saved the movie from being scrapped altogether after a series of cast changes and bailouts by celebrities left it facing an uncertain future.

In fact, the movie, called Gravity, was originally meant to star Angelina Jolie and Robert Downey Jr in the lead roles, but Jolie was said to have quit, come back, and then quit again.

Downey Jr on the other hand is said to have run with the project as the various casting changes went on, but then bailed at the last minute just when producers thought that they finally had their leading man and woman in him and Bullock.

According to reports there was talk of scrapping the movie, but the producers decided on a last ditch attempt at finding a leading man, who came in the form of George Clooney, who is no stranger to being in space in his movies having been in the Sci-Fi movie Solaris in 2002. Bullock has starred in many movies including the much loved Miss Congeniality movies.

There are reports that a number of cast changes have been made to the female leading role in this 3D thriller, and that the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman were involved over the months. With Clooney working on another project at the moment production on Gravity is set to begin in the spring of next year – if the cast sticks around this time that is!
