'So You Think You Can Dance': So Long, Results Show

'So You Think You Can Dance': So Long, Results Show It's the new year, and it looks like 2012 will already be bringing some big changes for "So You Think You Can Dance." Mostly because it's CANCELED!

Okay, only part of it is canceled: the competition show will still be on the air, but Fox has decided that the ratings for the SYTYCD results show just aren't impressive enough to keep it going. So judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe sent out this tweet yesterday:

That means that the show, which used to air two nights a week, will be cut to just one. This will likely mean a change in format for the show, as the results will have to be given at the beginning of the next week's show. That'll be pretty awkward for the contestants, who will likely be preparing dance numbers and be completely unaware that their fate is already sealed.

Personally, I hope this becomes a trend for reality shows. It's unlikely that "American Idol" will be ditching its results show any time soon, but those shows mostly end up being a large waste of time that shove in more clip packages and product placement.
