'So You Think You Can Dance' Puts Live, Dancing Billboard on Sunset Boulevard

It's hard to convey the kinetic excitement of "So You Think You Can Dance" through a picture on a billboard. One of the many I've seen around Los Angeles just shows a dancer doing the splits as she stretches and warms up. Sure, the splits are impressive, but it doesn't show the kind of amazing stunts and moves that you see on "SYTYCD." Also, it takes me a second while I look at it and think "Is that her other leg up there? Oh my god it is. My goodness, that looks uncomfortable."

With "So You Think You Can Dance" switching over to live episodes this week, they needed a big advertising push to get people to tune in, and a regular billboard wasn't going to cut it. So they decided to go with a live billboard instead.

Driving down Sunset Blvd. yesterday afternoon, you would have been able to look up and see a group of dancers performing in front of a billboard, placed on a rooftop above the street. And if you looked closely, you might have spotted judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Martin, as the spent the day interacting with press and fans.

Tonight on Fox, the Top 20 will perform live for the first time, and singer Jessie J will grace the stage on Thursday for the first live results show of the season.

This season's 20 finalists are: Jordan Casanova, Alexander Fost, Tadd Gadduang, Marko Germar, Ricky Jaime, Wadi Jones, Mitchell Kelly, Chris Koehl, Caitlynn Lawson, Jess LeProtto, Iveta Lukosiute, Miranda Maleski, Sasha Mallory, Melanie Moore, Missy Morelli, Clarice Ordaz, Ryan Ramirez, Ashley Rich, Robert Taylor Jr. and Nick Young.
