'SNL' Spoofs 'The Hunger Games': Watch the Sketch Here
by Andy NeuenschwanderSofia Vergara's guest hosting appearance on "Saturday Night Live" was, for the most part, pretty predictable: the promos had jokes about her accent, and she did a lot of yelling. Also predictable was a sketch about the blockbuster hit "The Hunger Games," which has been more or less all anyone has been talking about the last couple of weeks.
In the sketch, Vergara plays a field reporter (done up in an Effie Trinket-esque manner) in the Hunger Games arena, reporting back to Caesar Flickerman (Bill Hader) and Claudius Templesmith (Fred Armisen). Vergara is a little overly enthusiastic about the job, loudly interviewing contestants during the fray, which usually leads to their death.
There are a couple of chuckles in there, especially if you're a fan of "The Hunger Games" and get the references (the Crustables in the sponsor package was pretty good). Also, it's tough not to laugh at a picture of the Hunger Games Puppy Bowl.
Vergara stars in ABC's Emmy-winning comedy "Modern Family," and will appear next in "The Three Stooges."
