'SNL' Ratings Down, Still Better Than Trump's 'Celebrity Apprentice'
by EG
The soon-to-be President is still tweeting insults every time Saturday Night Live pokes fun at him, and last weekend's episode got him as angry as ever. Despite Donald Trump's claims that SNL is "not funny" and "terrible," and despite below-typical ratings for the week's episode, SNL is still drawing more viewers than Trump himself did the last time he hosted an NBC series.
This week's episode of SNL earned a 2.0 rating in the crucial 18-49 age demographic. That's a low point for the season and considerably below the highest-rated episodes of the show in December.
However, before you start believing Trump when he says that SNL is failing or that he himself was a "ratings machine" when he hosted Celebrity Apprentice, compare the actual numbers.
Trump's final season of Celebrity Apprentice earned an average 1.8 rating, and only two of the season's nine episodes broke the 2.0 mark. SNL, on the other hand, has been consistently above the 2.0 mark all season until this week.
When you consider that viewers have to stay up until 11:30pm to see SNL, and Trump's Apprentice was on at 9pm on Monday nights, it's not hard to see which series has been more compelling to young viewers. Unless, of course, you're Donald Trump.
