'Sleepy Hollow' Season 2, Episode 11: 'The Akeda' Recap

'Sleepy Hollow' Season 2, Episode 11: 'The Akeda' Recap Icabod and Abbie race to Frederick's Manor, but the electrical storm happening around them destroys their car. At a gas station, they lift a motorcycle. They get to the manor but find it empty. They string yarn across a small replica of the city in the places Henry has struck, and find that he has created a pentagram over the city.

They hear Katrina yell, and find her in the yard, about to be killed in the binding ritual which will make her Abraham's bride. Ichabod fights him and overpowers him with the sword. He demands to know where Moloch is, and Katrina uses an incantation so Ichabod can also see Abraham. Abraham tells him all magic has a cost - whoever kills with the sword sacrifices their soul and life. Katrina begs Ichabod to wait and see if he is lying.

They chain him up and try to figure out if Abraham is telling the truth. Ichabod and Abbie note that Katrina continues to save Abraham's life. Jenny finds that Abraham was speaking the truth. Abbie thinks maybe they die as Witnesses. Jenny suggests that if someone's soul is already claimed, perhaps the sword can't take it and kill the wielder. She suggests finding Irving.

Ichabod overhears Katrina talking with Abraham and admitting she was a spy, but that she cares for him. Ichabod asks Katrina if she can kill Henry if he stands in the way of defeating the enemy, but she is clear that she would not.

They use a message Irving left Jenny to determine where he is, as he left them a clue in code. They go and track him down at the old garrison. They bring him to interrogate Abraham, who tells them Moloch is at the four white trees, now blackening. When all four trees are blackened, it will bring Hell to Earth.

They fetch Hawley, who reminds them Doomsday sayers have been wrong for 10,000 years... but once it starts hailing blood, he recants, and loads them up with weapons. They also ask him to watch over Abraham.

Katrina and Ichabod fight over her intentions. Ichabod is losing faith and trust in her. They agree to just play their roles in battle for now, and consider their marriage once the war is over.

Moloch's army begins to rise. They attack as everyone makes their way toward the four trees. Abbie is shot in the shoulder. Irving fights the Horseman of War, killing him, though he is injured badly in the fight. Katrina tries to stop the bleeding, but Irving dies.

When they tell Abbie, who is being bandaged up by her sister, she is devastated. She takes up the sword. Ichabod tries to argue, but she says when she falls, he can pick it up. And Katrina, and Jenny after him. They are done letting Moloch win. Sacrifices must be made.

Moloch sends Henry to find them, though Henry's "armor" (the Horseman) has been destroyed, and he is certain he will perish. He goes to the church, using magic roots to trap Abbie and Jenny, and picking up the sword. Katrina chants, and the sword is revealed as a fake. Ichabod uses the true sword to hold Henry still. Henry uses magic to shut all the doors and says the only way to get out is to kill him.

Ichabod begs Henry to let them kill Moloch, and then he can be free. Henry pretends to be swayed, and then grabs the sword. He brings them to Moloch. Moloch tells him to kill Katrina, which will blacken the final tree. Ichabod begs to be killed instead. Henry speaks of the Biblical story in which Abraham was told to kill his son. He says any man who would sacrifice his child should die. He turns and kills Moloch (his "father").
