Simon Baker of The Mentalist Scores HUGE Contract

Simon Baker of The Mentalist Scores HUGE Contract Simon Baker managed to sign a huge deal with CBS over the break.

His deal includes a $30 million dollar payday for the next few seasons and Executive Producer credits for Season 5. That’s like two years away?

I guess the studio execs are assuming the ratings will stay up and aren’t planning to can the show any time soon.

Simon stars on the show, The Mentalist and apparently, it is doing very well over at CBS.

It is averaging 16 million viewers, which is great for TV ratings these days. And the show gets DVR’d by another 3 million people – which is the record this year. At least those viewer numbers have kept the show from getting axed. It has made it through two seasons and will finish out its third this year.

That’s quite a feat in TVland these days, when execs are chopping shows left and right after just two or three episodes, let alone seasons.

CBS keeps quietly handing out these big contracts, from Charlie Sheen to Simon. And he is a relative new name in the TV business. Charlie was at least a household name from his drug and movie days. Oh wait, his show is just that popular, right?

Maybe Simon can hold on and keep clean and show Charlie how it is really done on TV.

Do you watch The Mentalist? Is it one of those popular shows where the viewers quietly watch, unless the show is in danger of being cut, like 7thHeaven was for years?
