Should M. Night Shyamalan Go Back to Film School?

Director M. Night Shyamalan is receiving support from fans that he might want to do without.

As Moviefone reports, three movie buffs are trying to raise $150,000 to send the Razzie-sweeping director back to film school.

Chris Baker, a copywriter and author, says he got the inspiration after witnessing a movie crowd laugh at a preview for the “Devil.”

According to Baker, the phrase “from the mind of M. Night Shyamalan” give rise to audience chuckles.

Baker and two advertising friends have developed a site to raise the funds called “M. Night School.”

With Shyamalan on board to film “1000 A.E.” staring Will Smith and son Jaden, the trio may be too late. Having raised $520, the men are a long ways away from their goal.

Eventually, they plan on holding a festival for aspiring filmmakers who would like to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and plan on donating the money to a scholarship award for the winner.

Baker, who believes that Shyamalan would turn down the money if they actually offered it to him, confesses that Shyamalan "will probably be a little hurt" about the concept, but he’ll be okay.

"His movies do make money, for better or for worse, which is kind of the irony of the whole thing," he said.
