Shia LaBeouf To Direct Marilyn Manson Documentary

With "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" making some serious headway at the box office right now, Shia LaBeouf (aka Sam Witwicky) has been making the rounds promoting the movie on network TV, sometimes talking way, way too much and managing to piss just about everybody off in the process.

While most of the talk has been centered on what is being called the last "Transformers" installment in the franchise, LaBeouf has also been talking about his acting career in general, and this latest news is pretty surprising. LaBeouf will be directing a Marilyn Manson documentary, chronicling the strange singer’s work on his eighth album due out later this year.

The details of LaBeouf’s new project came up during an interview on "Live with Regis and Kelly." The actor told the talk show duo that he recently spent time at Marilyn Manson’s West Hollywood home, and since the "Transformers" star has some experience working with musicians like Kid Cudi, Manson agreed to the inside look at his work.

Maybe you’re a fan and think this is exciting news, but for some, self-professed "Anti-Christ Superstar" Marilyn Manson is like an older, less successful male version of Lady Gaga - with all the shock value and none of the real artistic value. So it's no surprise that this latest news isn't exciting some fans (especially since it sounds painfully like a second Joaquin Phoenix documentary in the making).

LaBeouf didn’t reveal much else, but he did describe a very weird meeting with the "Beautiful People" singer:

“There are no lights in the room.  And there are these big metal doors and he opens the door and he’s in a kimono. A big pink kimono.  It's sort of a lair. No lights, so you have to use your cell phone to guide you around.”

Sounds a pretty freaky already!  What do you think? Are you a Manson fan who wants to see what LaBeouf comes up with or do you think Shia's going down a dark path he shouldn't delve into? Let us know in the comments below.
