'Sherlock' Returning For Season Four, With Three Episodes and a Special!
by Shannon KeirnanIt's coming back!
"Sherlock," the hit BBC/PBS series, had its fate up in the air for a time, as both of its stars were considerably busy shooting other projects - like "The Hobbit" series in which both appear (Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, and Benedict Cumberbatch providing the voice of the dragon Smaug).
However, season 4 has been announced!
"It's taken a little while to get the dates sorted as none of the boys are exactly sitting back twiddling their thumbs," says Sue Vertue, executive producer at Hartswood Films, "but there was unanimous goodwill to make this work so we're thrilled that 221b is going to be inhabited again."
Season 4 will begin with a "special episode," followed by three episodes to complete the season.
"A special, plus a series of three new episodes - it's a record-breaking run!" said series co-creator Steven Moffat. "Of course, it's far too early to say what's coming, but we're reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John is the very last thing you'd expect..."
The news was teased on Twitter, with a picture of Sherlock's nemesis Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott) appearing on a screen, with the caption "Miss me?"
"After the briefest of exiles, #Sherlock will return to face one of his biggest mysteries yet," teased another tweet. "Why is Moriarty's face being broadcast on every television in the land?"
Shooting for the special will begin in January of 2015, with shooting for the episodes later in the year.
Can you wait that long?
